Miley Cyrus, who is still trying to get her movie career up and running,
is currently in talks to star in the Lifetime Network and History
Channel co-production Bonnie & Clyde, Deadline
reports. The former Disney Channel darling is up for the role of Bonnie
in the forthcoming miniseries. If all goes according to plan, the Hannah Montana star will portray one of the most notorious female outlaws in American history.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the idea of inserting Miley Cyrus into a serious production was prompted by A&E Network’s recent success with the Hatfields & McCoys
miniseries, which featured a number of famous faces. Later this year,
Lifetime will attempt to work similar magic by unleashing the Linday
Lohan-fronted Elizabeth Taylor biopic Liz & Dick on the masses. Bonnie & Clyde
also continues the company’s tradition of releasing high-profile
productions that incorporate “and” into the title. Curious, that.
Of course, the Bonnie & Clyde miniseries isn’t the only
project Miley Cyrus currently has in the works. In addition to her stint
on an episode of the hit situation comedy Two and a Half Men, the actress is slated to appear in director Tom Vaughan’s action comedy So Undercover.
Miley Cyrus will portray Molly, a street smart, tough-as-nail private
eye who is hired by the Federal Bureau of Investigation to go undercover
at a college sorority. All sorts of wacky hijinks are expected to
ensue.
